Über mich
ABOUT ME
I generally suck at writing these sorts of things, but here it goes. I lived in Texas for most of my life, with the exception being a few months spent outside of D.C. and in Berkeley. For the past five years, I've been in Austin, which - for those believing the stereotypes of Texas - is a little liberal bubble in the middle of the state. I went to school at the University of Texas and majored in journalism. For the past two years, I've been a reporter at a medium-sized paper in Austin. I love my job writing, but I'm not really on a "career path." My mission in life is to have as many great experiences as possible and see all that I can. Though I've never been to Europe, I've been talking about going backpacking there for sometime now and I'm finally doing it! I'm very laid back and enjoy pretty much everything. I love reading, writing, traveling, running, music, meeting new people, drinking beers with friends and trying to keep up with what's going on in the world.
PHILOSOPHY
"Get busy living or get busy dieing." Ok, so I'm stealing that line from a movie, but it generally sums up my philosophy on life. I know and do all of the things to take care of myself, i.e. got to school, get a degree, get a job, save money, but my main goal is to work and feel good about it while also getting to travel as much as i can. I don't totally hate my job or anything, but it's sort of at the bottom of my list of things that I really care about. I just want to travel right now and I'm fine with working a couple of years at some newspaper, quitting, and then taking off on another trip. Politically, I probably lean left, but I'd like to think that my philosophy is for whatever works best, regardless of the party or politician. I do believe in the Golden Rule and am open minded. Just be kind!

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
The coolest thing I've done so far, is biking with other college kids from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska. It was a 4500-mile trip that took just over two months. I got to see a lot of the U.S. and Canada that I otherwise probably wouldn't have seen. I met amazing people and the ride was for a good cause: fighting cancer. Four years after the trip, my grandmother who raised me died from cancer. The trip now means a lot more to me than just a bike ride.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I'm really just up for hanging out and meeting new people, which, I realize, is a broad answer to this question, but a lot comes out of simple conversations and friendships.
