ABOUT ME

My name is Nick! I can't believe I'm lucky enough to say this--- but I'm a bestselling Children's Book author!

I've traveled to quite a few places, due to my job as a flight attendant from 2004 through 2012. Through this gig, I was even lucky enough to live in Maui, Hawaii for 3 years. Here, we hosted over 100 travelers through Couchsurfing and other networking sites.

Now, I've got a home base in Toledo, Ohio... which I rarely see, due to traveling! I'm sometimes on the road, sometimes in the sky and sometimes cruising the sea.

Currently, my co-author and I are traveling across the country, reading our book to schools far-and-wide. We call it the Encouragement Across America Tour, because all of our books teach children about encouraging each other every single day!

PHILOSOPHY

I like the Steve Jobs story about connecting the dots: you can't connect the dots looking forward, only looking backwards. Your life will work itself out... if you begin to look back and connect the dots.

The other best piece of advice I've ever gotten came from a Jimmy Buffett book, "jump and the net will appear." Sometimes, in order to follow your dreams, you just have to jump.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've never stayed with anyone as of September 5th, 2012!!!!

However, I have hosted over 100 people from my time living in Maui. As you can imagine, I received so many requests... and I cherished meeting so many cool people. After moving back to the mainland, I've been traveling quite a bit. Plus nobody wants to stay in Toledo, Ohio.

Now I'm on a mission to stay with some cool Couchsurfers when doing the Great American Roadtrip across the country.

Interests

Writing, photography, video-taking and more. Travel, for sure. Experiencing new music. Politics. Wine. I should't mix politics and wine. Things get rough. Blogging. Reading to kids. Getting a great deal at a dive bar.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Shawshank Redemption. Anything with Meryl Streep. Anything Superman. I like action/adventure movies. Comedies. Really hate to admit that I watch Real Housewives of New York.

Music: Green Day. Lady Gaga. Madonna (although she's turned into a wretched bitch in recent years...). Billy Joel. Elton John. Gavin Degraw. Anything-- really, anything.

Books: Pete the Popcorn! Clipper the Comet! Casey and Callie Cupcake! Those are my three titles... I have to self-promote, right?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Vieques, Puerto Rico-- the BioBay. It's the largest and best phosphorescent bay in the world... and it might not be around for too much longer in the fragile ecosystem that exists. You jump in the water and start to glow. And more a minute you can pretend you're in the Avatar sequel.
