ABOUT ME

Born in Australia. My Mum is from Singapore and my Dad Malaysia. Lived in a variety of countries through my adult years, both for work and for personal reasons, mainly through Europe, Australia and Asia. Currently for work reasons, I am a proud resident of Kurdistan, Northern Iraq, but still travelling for fun every month. Well I work for 30 days then travel for 24 days. Work flies me from Iraq to pretty much anywhere, which is sometimes pretty awesome, it's like opening an atlas and thinking where do I want to go?

I like everything really, try to be as diverse as possible. Definitely into art, culture, history, mythology, but then your typical stuff like sports, booze, and waking up in the gutter.

PHILOSOPHY

When I was 20 I thought I would be happy if I died at 30, as long as I had a great next 10 years. Now I'm almost 30 I figure I don't care if I die at 40 as long as the 10 years is kick ass. Will probably feel different at 39.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I am a perpetual traveller, so I can't really host anyone. In a year or so I would like to buy a sailboat and sail round the world, so will always be options on my boat couch.

Currently in the USA seeing a couple of surgeons after a shark bite to the hand a year and a half ago, while surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't ever stay with people, prefer to get my own hotel, but it's always nice to meet up for drinks or dinner and pick the brain of a local or head out on teh town with a fellow traveller. Just Calgary so far, but everyone was super-nice.

1. Try not to go out drinking the night before you fly. I have missed 4 flights this year alone.

2. Appearances are deceiving. Iraq is the most amazing country I've worked in.

3. When people tell you not to go surfing in murky seas with overcast weather, listen to them. Sharks are some seriously serious creatures that can mess you up good.
