ABOUT ME
Born and raised in Melbourne. I studied Commerce at University, only to finish and discover that it wasn't what I was passionate about in life. I was far more interested in travelling and food. In 2013-2014 I was working as a chef in Melbourne, and discovered I really enjoy cooking for others, but more so for myself, because I love eating even more. I found the process meditative and relaxing. I found that this career allowed me to be creative, something I thought I wasn't. I'm interested in trying new things which push my boundaries and my comfort zone. Travelling allows me to expose myself to new experiences more frequently so I continually do it.
PHILOSOPHY
happy to take on any challenge, I try to live in the moment, be present. Take risks. Do what I want and say what I feel, be honest and authentic
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm here to meet locals in places I visit, avoid tourist traps and get a real feel for the culture. I traveled a lot staying at hostels, but I feel that sometimes I haven't gotten a genuine experience of the places I have visited. I want to talk to locals and hear their stories and perspectives and to share mine
Interests
Being a nomad. I've realised travelling per se isn't my main interest right now, rather I prefer living in a place for an extended period (at least 3 months) and discovering the city/town and its beauty.
I enjoy being active, I enjoy playing football, basketball and I'm happy to try my hand and any team sports. I hate "working out" as I find it boring, so I prefer playing physical sports which help me maintain my fitness at the same time. I love nature so hiking and explore waterfalls, lakes rivers and beaches to swim are my favourite things to do when I'm visiting an area. I practice meditation, which I consider push-ups for the mind. But I don't do it as often as I should.
As mentioned above, I love cooking. To be honest, I don't have a cuisine that is my favourite, but I'm open to trying all. A major part of my travels is discovering local cuisines, trying to draw elements from all the cuisines I try into my form of cooking. If I had to choose one specific cuisine as my favourite (and its probably because I miss it right now) it would be Japanese, sushi/sashimi and raw meat and fish dishes (tartares, tatakis, crudo etc). I'm pescatarian right now so I'm also exploring more plant based dishes and building my repertoire.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiking from Biarritz to Berlin in July 2015. Receiving such warm hospitality reinvigorated my faith in humanity and to know that kindness and unconditional gifting is still abundant in the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
teach - I take great pleasure in passing on what I know to others and cooking collaboratively
learn - since learning spanish I'm always eager to pickup new languages, I've started learning Portuguese so I would love to get some practise
Also to be more mindful, is something I'm always trying to improve, and to be present and connected to my body
share - I'd love to share some food, some stories and some hugs
