About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To taste as many different foods as I can

ABOUT ME

I'm a person who's always up for a new experience. I love to sit down for a good conversation or go out for a night of drinking and laughs, wether it be in English, French or Spanish.
I'm friendly and outgoing, though at first I may seem a little shy, however I always seem to have a smile on my face :) Also, when it comes to food, I'm never shy to try anything!

Something people always mention when they first meet me is how short I am. I'm 4'11 (150cm). Hope that doesn't intimidate you

PHILOSOPHY

Always find an excuse to laugh and smile about any situation!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently travelling in Europe and will be living in Perpignan! I hope to meet great people through couch surfing this year! …2013/14

I've met people through surfing, but now I'm back in Canada and I would love to offer up my couch!... May 2010

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couch surfed with a few people in Dublin, Limerick, and in Kinsale, Ireland. I've met fellow couch surfers in Dublin at a fantastic party hosted by a memorable couchsurfer. 2010
My most recent experience was couch surfing in Montreal. All I can say are positive things about all these people, all very interesting in their own way. 2012-2013
I have been able to host a few people in my apartment in Perpignan, been a good times getting to know new people in the south of France! 2013
Couchsurfing in Eindhoven, Amsterdam, Malaga and Granada! Loved all of my hosts! 2014

Interests

Music, Languages, Culture and Food = which usually mean an itch to travel everywhere!

Honestly, if I can go to a place and have someone show me around the local music scene and the best hole-in-the-wall restaurant, my life would be complete. I love talking about music, languages, movies, events, philosophies etc etc.
I also quite honestly enjoy people watching, so sitting in a cafe while pretending to do homework happens quite often.

Music, Movies, and Books

I know when it comes to music and you ask someone what kind of music they like, they say everything...which is never true. But I can honestly say I'm open to everything. My dad organizes a world music festival, so I've been around world music, rock, jazz, latin, electronic, etc etc all my life!

I even went to a World Music conference in Copenhagen (WOMEX) in October 2009, and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had. I love to dance and so if it can make me move, I'll enjoy it. There's very little I don't like, but I CAN say though, I don't like Country music...in fact I truly hate it. But hey, within every genre, there's good and bad, so if someone wants to make me listen to their favourite country song I'll be very open to try to enjoy it!

To give you an idea of my eclectic music tastes, the latest concerts I've seen include Black Keys, Woodkid, Arcade Fire, Radio Radio, Five Alarm Funk, The XX, Death Cab for Cutie, Eliane Elias (Brazilian jazz pianist/singer), Death From Above 1979, Massive Attack, The Virgins, The So So Glos, Patrick Watson, Revolver and The Swell Season (in Dublin)..etc...etc..etc..

When it comes to movies...I'm a movie buff. I've recently noticed though that the better the soundtrack to the movie, the more likely it will be one of my favourites. For example, Guy Ritchie movies normally have fantastic soundtracks, Garden State, as well as Spanish films (oh ya, I adore foreign cinema, especially Almodovar). I hate scary movies though because I tend to get really nervous and scream like a little girl...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a student in residence in Nantes where I hosted 3 guys from the NYC band the So So Glos that played in Nantes and were desparate for a place to stay. They randomly came up to me while another band was playing looking for someone who spoke english. I figured, why not? So they slept on my and another floormate's floor and needless to say it was a night filled with conversation and no sleep as the floor is NOT comfortable!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn from those who are passionate about what they do and their interests. Even though it may not be something in common with me, I'm always very interested in what people are passionate about. I am a great listener and will always ask a lot of questions.

Teach, I can teach you Salsa, Spanish, show you a new band, or maybe even teach you how to make pupusas, if we have the time!
