About Me

Hi there! I’m Mercy Maina, an outgoing individual with a deep love for nature, walking, and farming. I’m always excited to explore new places and immerse myself in the beauty of the outdoors. Whether hiking through scenic trails or spending time on a farm, I find joy in life's simple pleasures.

I’m a people person at heart and genuinely enjoy making new friends and connecting with others. Traveling allows me to meet amazing people, share stories, and learn from different cultures.

If you’re looking for a friendly, adventurous guest who’s always up for a walk or a chat, I’m your person! I can’t wait to meet you and share some great experiences together.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because I believe that travel is about more than just seeing new places—it’s about connecting with people, sharing experiences, and creating lasting memories. As someone who loves meeting new friends and exploring different cultures, Couchsurfing offers the perfect platform for meaningful interactions.

For me, it’s not just about having a place to stay but about immersing myself in the local way of life, learning from others, and giving back by sharing my own stories and experiences. Whether it’s a walk in nature, a deep conversation, or just enjoying the simple things together, I’m here to make genuine connections and embrace the adventure of life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I’m all about tunes that resonate with nature and adventure! I love listening to folk, indie, and classic rock—anything that complements a walk through the countryside or a night under the stars. Bands like Fleetwood Mac, Mumford & Sons, and The Lumineers are some of my go-tos. I also enjoy a bit of reggae when I’m in the mood for something laid-back and soulful.

Movies: I’m drawn to films that inspire wanderlust and tell compelling stories. Movies like Into the Wild, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and Wild are among my favorites, as they capture the spirit of adventure and the beauty of exploration. I also enjoy classic films and documentaries that offer new perspectives on life and the world around us.

Books: I love getting lost in books that explore nature, travel, and human connections. Walden by Henry David Thoreau, A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson, and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho are some of my favorites. I’m also a fan of novels that delve into history, culture, and the complexities of human emotions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I’ve done was spending a year working on a farm in the heart of the countryside. Immersed in nature, I learned the art of sustainable farming, grew my own food, and connected deeply with the land. Every day was an adventure, from tending to crops at sunrise to walking through endless fields under the stars. This experience not only strengthened my love for nature but also taught me the value of hard work, patience, and living in harmony with the environment.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge of nature and farming. Whether it’s tips on growing your own garden, sustainable farming practices, or simply how to enjoy a good walk in the woods, I’d love to pass on what I’ve learned. I also have experience in caregiving, so I can offer insights into personal care and creating meaningful connections with others.

Learn: I’m always eager to learn new things, especially when it comes to different cultures, languages, and ways of life. Whether it’s picking up a few phrases in your native language, learning about local traditions, or discovering new music and books, I’m all in! I’m also interested in learning more about different sustainable living practices and ways to connect with nature.

Share: I’m all about sharing good vibes, interesting stories, and unforgettable experiences. Whether we’re cooking a meal together, exploring a new place, or just having a deep conversation, I’m excited to share a bit of my world with you. And, of course, if you’re into nature and the outdoors, we can definitely share a great hike or farming experience!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love connecting with people and sharing experiences that leave us both with great memories. With my hosts, I can share my passion for nature and farming—whether it’s tips on growing your own herbs or stories from my time working on a farm. If you enjoy walking or exploring the outdoors, I’d be thrilled to join you on a hike or show you some techniques for enjoying nature to the fullest.

I’m also happy to share my cooking skills, especially if you’re interested in simple, hearty meals made with fresh ingredients. Beyond that, I bring a positive and open attitude, ready to engage in meaningful conversations, swap travel stories, or simply enjoy a peaceful moment together.

I’m always willing to lend a hand with any tasks around the house or garden, and I aim to be a respectful, considerate guest who leaves a positive impact wherever I go.
