Hi! My name is Mercy and I am currently in school studying to be a high school math teacher. I grew up in New Jersey in the US, but I go to university in Washington, DC. I love to see new places and meet new people and learn more about the world. My favorite place is anywhere that has lots of nature. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on courchsurfing because I heard about the idea and it seems like an *awesome* way to see the world while meeting locals and learning about culture. While hostels and hotels are nice, they can often be very touristy, and I am much more interested in getting to know the people who live in the towns I am visiting than falling into tourist traps!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love country music and Christian music, but I am open to pretty much anything else! My favorite movies are Remember the Titans and Lord of the Rings. As for books, I absolutely love to read-- right now my favorite books are The Help, Grendel, The Alchemist, and, of course, Harry Potter.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quick random "amazing" thing: in high school I co-designed an experiment that got sent to the International Space Station to be tested!

Teach, Learn, Share

Although I've already covered some of my "favorites," I also love to write, be outside, play with animals, work with children, go to church, swim in the ocean, talk for hours about education, watch documentaries on beautiful places, and make plans to travel to those beautiful places. I am passionate about nutrition and homegrown foods and alllllll the benefits being in nature can bring. I am so, so excited to meet others who have views on these topics and to learn from others' experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share lots of laughs, a home-cooked meal, funny stories, views on education, some fun mathematical games, a New Jerseyan perspective on life, and much more! I look forward to meeting all of you :D
