About Me
I want to meet people from all over the world and interact with different cultures.
After living in Beijing for 2 years and learning Chinese I have recently moved to Aberdeen, Scotland, where I am now studying History. I am originally from Germany, but have spend over 6 years of my childhood in China. I have used couch surfing occasionally during my gap year and had good experiences staying with other people. I would host myself, but sadly I live in student accommodation and have hardly any space.
Travelling was a big part of my childhood and I hope it'll stay this way!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The usual reason I guess, I want to meet new people and I love traveling but am a student on a somewhat tight budget.
Concerning the meeting new people part, I've found that ever since I moved to China and got to know more and more people with completely different backgrounds, it really made my life a richer one. I learned a lot about the world and at the same time myself (sounds completely generic, I know, but it's true). As someone who always dreamed of getting involved with diplomacy, these past years has been simply amazing.
INTERESTS (since I don't manage to put anything besides tags in that section :.()
I consider myself as having widespread interests and also being up for trying out new stuff! You know, we gotta try things out in case we missed our one true calling ^^
As far as traveling goes, I love to visit cultural buildings as in temples and churches or palaces (give me some of that beautiful interior decor lol) I also enjoy museums, especially some that are more interactive. The only thing museumwise I'm not to psyched about is modern aka surrealist art, just can't get my head into that most times.
I'm not that sporty, so go easy on me haha although I do enjoy hiking and climbing, especially when I'm 'rewarded' in the end by beautiful scenary or a historic building of some sort.
I also love food (although making it isn't my special skill) and try not to be to picky, so whatever it is I will at least try :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a huge Star Wars fan, as in: I have a seperate bookshelf for Star Wars Books because I have a problem.
Other than that reading Winnie Pooh, watching 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' and 'Friends', all belong to my feel good activities.
And Carrie Fisher Interviews.
Last year I've also gotten really involved with musical theatre, starting with listening to the'Hamilton' soundtrack on repeat and then joining the musical club at Tsinghua, where we performed 'Wicked' last summer and I met incredible friends.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Wild camping in the mountains around Beijing, my favorite childhood memory.
We would do it about twice every year, up to 5 families including mine, driving into the mountains and staying over night. The usual spot was right next to a little river, where we would swim and climb on rocks to jump into the water (sounds like something school would teach you to NEVER EVER do haha)
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm still trying to learn as much Chinese as I can!
I'm up for helping with other peoples German, but be warned that I always talk too fast. I also have a great interest in History and know a lot about especially german history myself. (FunFact: At one point in history Germany, the United Kingdom and Russia all shared the same melody for their national anthem, now imagine a sports game)
What I Can Share with Hosts
As I said History and German, also sketching faces and generally speaking just a different view on things, if you're interested. I am also generally a great source of information on mental health support.
