About Me

I am an artist and traveller from Minnesota, United States. I am currently backpacking Europe for an indefinite amount of time in hopes of getting to see and know the world a little better...it is my first time outside the U.S. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Having a host show me their favorite things to do or places to go is great to get to know a city and culture better. I enjoy making connections with people and exchanging thoughts and ideas about life.

Currently reading Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, just listened to an alt-j song, and repeatedly cycle through watching all the seasons of Scrubs

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nurture my cat, Velociraptor - thus named because he couldn't meow but he could screech. Velo was a barn kitty from Iowa, the first day he had human contact was the day I met him. He was a pretty feral cat. In the beginning he would attack and be very aggressive all the time. He even bullied my roommate and bit her ankles if they were in the same room together. In general he just loved to bite people.

But Velo had lots of personality. And he was smart - I taught him how to lay down, rise, and roll over. .. He even started to play fetch. He became my best friend, and the best snuggler I have ever experienced. He drooled a lot when he was happy. He just needed an outlet for all his energy and after figuring out how ways to provide that his velociraptor tendencies became more gentle.

He taught me patience and love I had never experienced until him. He taught me compassion. I even saw him and my roommate napping together towards the end.

Loving this cat is the most beautiful, amazing thing I have ever done. I miss him a ton, and if you have a cat I hope I can hang out with it :)
