ABOUT ME

WHO I'M: My name is Merielen, I'm from Brazil but now I live in the US. I'm graduated in Systems Analysis and I work as Testing Software Engineer. I also love animals and that's why I became an independent animal protector... I am vegetarian (Don't worry, I am not nazivegan... LMAO). I love music, dancing, reading good books, making my friends laugh a lot, making new friends, studying, traveling and going out.

MY PASSIONS: MY NUMBER ONE IS MY SON, OF COURSE...ALSO LIFE, MY FAMILY, AND MY PETS.

SELENA - The Queen of TexMex, she's an inspiration in my life. I love her!

LANGUAGES - My native language is Portuguese. I'm learning English and Spanish, I think languages are very interesting and I want to learn others 3 or 4, maybe more.

TALKING TO PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD - A good way to improve my skills is talking to people around the world but, the best thing is that you learn about many cultures and countries through who lives there.

MAKING NEW FRIENDS - Another wonderful thing that happens when you talk to people from different places.

COMPUTERS - I work with them, I study them...I can't live without them. They're like an extension of me... I'm a geek!

INTERNET - One of the greatest inventions, my favorite tool for anything I need to know.

PHOTOGRAPHY - Taking photos to me seems to be like walking on clouds. How I enjoy it!

MMA - My newest passion. I don't know why people use drugs, go to a gym and practice MMA, you'll get so addicted to it, you're not going to need any other drug...LOL!

ANIMAL AND NATURE: I do love and respect them... So, I don't eat meat, but don't worry I'll never try to persuade you to give up on it. It is your business, not mine ;-)

WHO I'D LIKE TO MET HERE: People who like the same things I do, who want to learn Portuguese and help me with English and Spanish, who like music (Hip Hop mainly), Selena's fans, people with that adventurous spirit which all CS probably has, people who love traveling and sharing their experiences, just like me.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to guide people in Porto Alegre, help them on their needs, even when I didn't meet them in person. Here in the US, I am still trying to figure out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had amazing experiences before becoming a member of CS members hosted by my best friend, so I decided to become a member too... I thought that I could be a member only if I hosted people, but since I can't do that it took time for me to be a CS member... But after a long time, she told me I could guide people, or even be hosted by them, just hang out, etc... So, here I'm.

Interests

Talking to people around the world; When you can learn about another culture trough the eyes who lives this culture it is just amazing; Imagine being engulfed by a portal that takes you to another dimension... So, that's the way I feel when I'm taking photos, watching an MMA fight, when I'm fighting, traveling, singing or dancing...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Giving birth to my son, finishing a 120kg man (MMA), interacting with tigers and lions, risking my life to save animals... Living la vida loca! In 2018 I can for sure add to the list: Getting married to my husband.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach alot about Brazil, actually that's what I try to do every time I have the opportunity to talk to someone from other country... And I am glad to say I've been doing a great job.

I am always starving for knowledge, I always keep my eyes and my mind open to learn something new, to experience something new.

I love sharing my Brazilian energy with people... I never thought it would be so amazing till my first trip outside South America... I never realized that, to be honest... I made some wonderful friends just because this such energy! And that's what alot of them asked me: Keep sharing this wonderful energy, spreading to people this good energy!
