ABOUT ME

Initially awkward, friendly, self-deprecating and weird. Then less awkward, friendly, self-deprecating and weirder. I've been told I'm nice, friendly and rather funny but you can take whoever I've taken out of context's word on that.

I'm talkative and like to laugh, especially at slightly (or very) twisted things. Creativity doesn't make me happy but it keeps me interested. I like it when people make me think differently, and hope I can help do the same.

PHILOSOPHY

Life moves in ebbs and flows, and like everything I fluctuate. I don't think things can be understood past complimentary opposites, I think non-binary creatures like starfish would have some genuinely fresh philosophy. I can shift from one extreme to the other sometimes but I try to maintain balance. Personally I think race, nationality, sexuality and gender are completely irrelevant, as is attaching your identity to any of the categories or sub-categories within it. I also don't believe in human progress, I believe in scientific and technological progress but that we are trapped to repeated patterns of human behaviour. People should just be, for life just is. And when that doesn't work, just laugh, it's not like life is permanent.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I AM NOT A HOSTEL, I like meeting people it's part of the fun CS. I have finally settled down somewhere after journeying round Europe and India on half a shoestring for half a year. The reason I survived a second Winter in place of Spring, a record-breakingly hot Summer and a monsoon was almost all down to the kindness of CS hosts. Now that I live in the heart of the nether-world that is Scottish tourism I'd like to continue that kindness.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and India. All the people I've stayed with I've left references for, so you can see I'm not just a static GIF image for some adult site. It's been a lot of fun and I've met a lot of cool people I'd like to stay in touch with and some I'm glad to now call friends.

Swam with a manatee, jumped off a waterfall, got my old band banned from a club, toured round Scotland with said band, accidentally witnessed a Shiva fire ceremony, fell off the side of a snake infested cliff in an effort to see some long forgotten and abandoned Hindi shrines and was promptly rescued by counter-terrorist police with AK47s...

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Always up for a philosophical, political, ethical or esoteric debate. I know a fair bit about Daoism, the history of punk music from 66 - 79, happy to give drawing lessons, can show how to play powerchords. I'm also an alright cook with whatever is lying around.
