ABOUT ME

I work at a university, do a lot of volunteering, and am generally running around to various activities. Not much for bars or late nights but I love live music and dancing if I can be in bed by midnight.

I enjoy people a lot - getting to know them and hearing their stories, learning from them, doing things together - and I enjoy sharing what I have with them. I have lived in New York for about 15 years.

I have a not bad pullout couch that can fit two people. I'm willing to host up to 3 days.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couch surfed in Europe and throughout the US through friend recommendations. Have had excellent experiences.

I am Buddhist and most of my vacation time goes for meditation retreats. I work out a lot. I knit. I like to cook and I love to eat. I bicycle and run. I like hiking - urban and wild. I love wandering New York City, checking out architecture, old buildings and forgotten spaces. I also like art galleries, museums, music, and theater. I am trying to improve my rusty Arabic and my rusty Finnish.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Watching kids in flip flops in Yemen clambering up the walls of buildings that looked over ravines so deep I could barely see the bottom. Meditating in a tiny cabin during an immense electrical storm.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I can teach you how to meditate, knit, or cook American food. We can do some great hikes in and near NYC via public transit. We can bike around Manhattan and go check out some spooky old sites in the city. Through my work I spend a lot of time thinking about and researching religion, identity, ethnicity, middle eastern politics, and democracy. We can work on our language skills - Arabic, Finnish, Spanish, French.
