Overview
About Me
I'm a WA native, but have lived all over. I spent quite a bit of my 20s traveling, and lived in Garmisch Germany, Glacier Park Montana, as well as Denali and Fairbanks Alaska. I have a masters in Evolutionary Biology, earned in San Diego, a PhD in Quantitative Biology earned in Texas, and completed a postdoc in genomics that took me to Fort Collins and Boston.
Presently, I am back in the Seattle area. Three dogs seem to keep me focused on looking towards a future that will bring me peace.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've had this account for years, though have found it difficult to host for various reasons.
Presently, I am headed to the Mayo Clinic for medical reasons, and need a place to camp out. Ideally, I will drive out with my dogs (1x mini schnauzer and 2x schnoodles). However, I am not confident I can make the trip by car. This said, please ping me if you are either dog friendly or not. My appointment begins June 9, and may span a few days to a week or so.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have lived in Alaska, in a rustic cabin without water, where I had to use the outhouse in -40F weather. The plus? I got to see the northern lights dancing in the skyline, against the trees. I have been to see the butterflies in Michocan, MX...Their weight was so great, that I thought a tree would topple over. I have hitch-hiked from Alaska to Montana, and was told to "get a job!" (LOL). I've worked in Denali, Glacier, and at a ski resort in Bavaria, Germany. Then...I got older, moved to San Diego and got a MSc...relocated to TX for a PhD...then CO for the first part of a postdoc...and now I'm here, in the Boston area.
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmm. If you want to know how evolution works, what a genome is, how personalized medicine functions, which methods might be best for data analysis, what type of salamander you found, or what data science is or it's greater implications for just about any aspect of the human experience is...just ask.
