关于我

I'm a proud Red River Métis woman—friendly, talkative, optimistic, helpful, and sincere. I love meeting new people and volunteering, and I proudly serve on the board of the Manitoba Geocaching Association. In June 2023, I earned my Community Development Diploma from the School of Indigenous Education at Red River College Polytechnic, where I served as lead student campus tour guide from June 2022 to December 2023. Since April 2024, I've been working for the Manitoba Métis Federation as a Mobile Regional Registry Officer.

(Note: To respect boundaries, please know Couchsurfing is for cultural exchange, not dating—personal friend requests are welcome only after meeting in person, and I don't provide immigration advice.)

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I love connecting with people from around the world! Couchsurfing lets me share Canadian culture, Manitoba life, Métis heritage, and geocaching adventures while building intercultural skills. I'm always excited to learn about my guests—their backgrounds, travels, and interests.

兴趣

Geocaching is my biggest passion—a worldwide GPS-based treasure hunt I started in July 2010. I volunteered with the Manitoba Geocaching Association as Event Coordinator (Feb 2011–June 2014), Member at Large (April 2022–April 2023), Vice-President (2023–2024), and now serve on the board as Director of Indigenous Affairs (2024–present). I plan to develop geocaches that help share Métis culture and history. I'm the coolest nerd you'll meet! 😜

I've volunteered at Rainbow Trout and Harvest Moon music festivals (2017, 2018, 2019, 2023), discovering bands like Royal Canoe, Zoon, Slow Spirit, and Boy Golden—now in my vinyl collection! I also helped at St. Madeline Métis Days (July 2023), honoring a Métis community destroyed by settlers in the 1930s near Binscarth, Manitoba (only the graveyard remains).

Outdoorsy at heart, I camp off-grid happily and enjoy hiking, biking, canoeing, and road trips (only four flights in my life!). I'm flexible—happy to plan or go spontaneous.

音乐、电影和书籍

Music? Who doesn't love it? 😍 My eclectic taste spans CDs, vinyl, and Spotify. Royal Canoe is my top fave from the festivals I attended, while Saint Motel is another hip band I love.

Movies are occasional treats (not a priority 😅)—it's rare for me to go to the theatre.

Reading focuses on education: my latest was The Trial of Louis Riel by John Coulter (play script copyright 1968), plus Indigenomics by Carol Anne Hinton, 21 Things You Didn't Know About the Indian Act, and Do Good Well. Teen favorites: April Raintree by Beatrice Culleton, The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom, Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit. 🤓

教,学,和分享

Life-long learning is so important.

My ancestry is connected to the history of Manitoba, as my great grandfather was one of the original Red River Métis settlers. My grandfather, Arthur Grégoire, was a twin and youngest of nine children. He was born in the small French town of St. Jean Baptiste, MB, south of Winnipeg, just south of Morris. Here he met my grandmother and got married. My mother is the youngest of eight children born to them. She was almost "scooped" for adoption as a baby in the chaos of the flood of 1950, by an older English couple who couldn't have their own children.

I would love to teach you geocaching, a super fun GPS based treasure hunting game played worldwide!

I always enjoy learning about other cultures and appreciate land-based knowledge.

I am learning more about gardening and would like to learn natural ways to heal using medicinal plants.
