About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Ever since I read Pippi Longstockings as a child, I have had a desire to prove to myself it is possible never to grow up - in the sense of sincere marvel at life.
ABOUT ME
I am friendly, quirky and like to find positive things in difficult circumstances - often through black humor. I do not remember ever being scared or mindlessly angry.
I am working in an engineering company and doing my PhD in theoretical physics.
I like to learn new things. I want to know not only what, but why and how.
As a host I cannot point you in the direction of a good club or a dance party, not much experience there. I can though invite you to small gatherings with my friends, play board games and chat through the evening.
I have never been drunk, but I do enjoy the taste of a good wine with cheese and cherry tomatoes.
PHILOSOPHY
Problems have tendency to solve themselves.
Empirical evidence shows that overwhelming majority of people do not regret working too little at the end of life. They regret spending too little time with friends and family and sacrificing things they wanted to do to obligations and earning money for obtaining things. I want to learn from my elders and fill my time with people I want to be with and activities I enjoy, though still being useful to the society.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
As a traveller - finding contact with local people seems to me to be the most important part of travelling experience. It is far more exciting to stay with a host and get a deep feeling of the place than to stay in campings or hostels and find yourself surrounded only by other travellers.
As a host - ready to help travellers on the road and get to meet interesting people with interesting experiences.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have found accommodation during trips to Tunisia and Switzerland, also have shown my town to other travellers.
Interests
I like to hike and also to get to know local nature. I am a bit obsessed about finding out edible plants (not by trial and error, though!).
I enjoy creating something with my own hands, like pottery.
I like socializing, just talking or cooking with friends.
I like languages, especially those with interesting writing systems like Japanese and Arabic.
