About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Primary education for more children

ABOUT ME

I am an open person, and I like to listen to people to get an idea of who they are. I met a ton of new people a few years ago when I was on exchange in Madison, WI, USA, and also when I did my Erasmus exchange in Brussels, Belgium. My interactions with the other international students have given me a lot in terms of unforgettable experiences and an insight into cultures I didn't know before. But most importantly I now have friends all over the world.
I now work in an office that has people from all over even though we are only 10 people here! This way my world view gets challenged on a daily basis and I keep feeding my curiosity on different cultures.
I have traveled a lot and I love doing it, especially on a budget. But I also love to indulge in luxury things like hot springs if I come across them. So far this only happened in Nepal and New Zealand, and Oregon, USA!

PHILOSOPHY

My primary guideline is to be open to others and not judge. However, I recently had some experiences that made me realize that I need to trust my gut feeling about a person more than I used to, particularly when the gut feeling is negative. I consider myself very lucky that I didn't have to realize this until now, because it tells me that I've mostly met really nice people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed in the US and Canada, and I met so many nice people that I couldn't wait to start hosting when I got back from my year as an exchange student. I loved the hosting experience in Copenhagen, and I'm looking forward to meeting more nice surfers in Brussels!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed and hosted a number of times, and I met all kinds of cool, interesting, and most of all friendly people!

Interests

Since I'm specialized in human rights, democratization and development, I love to discuss these themes! In my free time, I like both indoor and outdoor activities. I enjoy reading fiction a lot, I love learning languages. I love hiking and camping and have done so in mountains in Nepal, Norway and Chile. When in Copenhagen I bike to and from everything, and I couldn't live without my bike!
I like singing with others, therefore I sing alto in a classical choir, and I once had a jazz trio in which I played the piano and sing back-up vocals. It's all just for fun, though, and if you want to jam with me at some point, I'd be delighted!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like gypsy swing, especially a Madison WI band called Harmonious Wail! Other than that, I like jazz and some pop music. I recently discovered, a bit to my own surprise, that I actually quite like new country music, so this is proof that you can keep expanding your horizon!
I like too many books to list them here, and in various different genres, too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I skydived twice, with 4 years between the jumps, and those were the most adrenaline pumping experiences of my life! I recently faced my fear and took the plunge from the 5 m /16 ft diving board!

Teach, Learn, Share

I absolutely love learning new languages, and if you want, I'll teach you a phrase or two in Danish! Or I'll teach you nice harmonies to your favorite songs!

What I Can Share with Hosts

There is the traditional swapping of favorite dishes which I always like to do, provided I can find the right ingredients or something close enough to improvise a dish!
My experience is that sharing your thoughts, reflections and opinions of the world and your experiences in life are the best things to share with others.
