About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keep an open mind. Listen fully to what others are saying. Make your own decisions.

ABOUT ME

There are few things I hate more than having to describe myself. But that's not exactly helpful here, is it :)

I find music is the language I'm best at. Words are hard for me, for whatever reason, but let me play something and you'll get to know me just fine. Give me a new tune to learn, and I'll be your best friend.

I tend to stroll through life on my own, but always appreciate the company of others as they come and go. Most my favorite things are best while surrounded by good people: music, beer, cycling, food, sharing highly exaggerated stories from the past...

I laugh a lot, sometimes inappropriately. I tend to find humor in everything. It's how I combat the hard truths of life that wear you down over time. I mean no offense, and will always stop and listen if you call me out. In fact, I really hope you do. I find it's in these moments that I tend to learn the most.

I am serious about climate justice, though. I used to be a very fierce activist, organizing and executing major actions all the time. It's work I feel is very important, still, but not mine to do, anymore. Right now I'm trying to figure out exactly what is mine to do, and I'm comfortable with the possibility that I'll never quite find it.

PHILOSOPHY

The journey is the destination.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted several couch surfers before, and traveled by myself and with my band using it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All good. Everyone who's hosted me has been really nice, and really cool. Everyone I've hosted, same story.

Interests

Music, brewing and drinking beer, bicycling, frisbee, talking about the "big issues", talking about nothing, people, video games, ambitious DIY projects that succeed, ambitious DIY projects that fail, and pretty much anything else with good company.

Music, Movies, and Books

Honestly don't read much, and don't watch a lot of movies. Favorite music though - old timey blues, way out jazz/fusion, tear your face off rock, dance yo ass off Soul and R&B, socially charged Hip-Hop, chilled out electronica, smile inducing Texas music (different from country, I'll play ya some), thought provoking folk...pretty much anything with creativity and/or a positive message I can dig.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel like something amazing happens in my life once a week, but here's one.

My band, along with a friend of ours, raised enough money to build a huge 10 person bike-powered sound system, allowing the band to play anywhere we want, without using any coal, oil, or gas. I'm pretty proud of that one.

Teach, Learn, Share

Shed whatever preconceived notions you have about all people, ideas, and situations, and just take them in for what they are. Life is much better that way.
