About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn something every single day.

ABOUT ME

"Half Goof Ball, Half Philosopher" - Description from a friend.

Hey everyone! I'm Matt. I'm 25 and have been either living abroad or traveling since I was 17. I moved to Canada in 2004 for university and have been studying or traveling since then.

What can I say, I love CS for a lot of reasons. I have met so many incredible people from all over the world through this site. Some of my most memorable days traveling have been spent with complete strangers. Cs has helped to constantly renew my belief in the goodness of the human spirit.

That being said, I'm a complete goof, love to laugh and just enjoy as much as possible. I am an outdoors/activities nut. I cycle, surf, hike and camp, I'm a scuba divemaster, dabble in rock climbing, and so on and so forth. If it's outdoors and you're looking for a partner in crime, you've got one.

That being said, I am also very much inclined to spend a night cooking, talking books and music, sitting on a balcony with a bottle of wine (which may make us decide to run to the nearest bar/live music venue/dj show/CS meeting, and finish the night at 5am).

Bottom line? I love people. I love new experiences. That's why I continue to sit in internet cafes and try to convince people to let me sleep in their homes. I will be your wholesome and grateful guest.

I have hosted many while living in Canada and loved each one. Right now I work abroad and can't offer a couch but am spreading my CS spirit in other ways.

Hope to meet you.

PHILOSOPHY

“Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'” -Martin Luther King Jr.

“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way.” -Neruda

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

People sleep on my couch. I sleep on the couches of others. Hilarity ensues.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Brazil, Chile, Spain, Canada, US, Costa Rica, Honduras, Spain, Portugal, Morocco.

I´ve hosted a number of people in my apartment in Canada and had a great time. Such wonderful people and memories. Some more drunk than others.

I travel for work now and all my things are in storage but as soon as I have a place and a couch again, it´s on!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen the Buffalo storm across a Mara River in the Masai Mara, Kenya! Incredible, crocodiles and hippos lurking, quite an ordeal.

I saw a man so that was so drunk, he fell asleep while riding a bull at a rodeo. True story. Arenal, Costa Rica

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll try to teach you english as best I can.

Learn: to surf better, languages, art, history, dancing, most anything. I'm into learning, very much.

I adhere to the couchsurfing credo, that surfing is more than a place to sleep. It is an exchange. I want to share my stories and experiences, I want to see your favorite little holes and cracks in your cities, from the natural world to the gritty underworld. Life is an adventure.
