About Me

My name is Mia, a 30-year-old Croatian adventurous soul with a passion for connecting with people and experiencing life to it's fullest.

By profession, I'm a counselor, by interests a whole-hearted travel planner, a savy digital marketing specialist, an adventurous climber and hiker.

My journey into the wide world began with exploring Europe with friends, leading to eight months living, working, and exploring the US. From there, I embarked on a two-months backpacking adventure through South America and did some epic roadtrips with friends in Mexico. Once seen the West it was time for the East and backpacking thru South-East Asia was just the beggining of it.

Eventually, I traded a conventional full-time job for a volunteering in hostels across Europe and discovered my passion for photography and writing which lead me to my current profession ~ digital marketing.

My greatest fear is missing out on life's adventures, while my biggest regret would be not seizing every opportunity that comes my way. Whether it's skydiving with friends or simply cherishing quiet moments with loved ones, I believe in savoring every experience to it's fullest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I started traveling at the age of 14 it was always about where to go. Now, 15 years later, it's much more about who to meet. Whenever you think about your past experiences, most of the time you don't remember places but people instead, from how they made you feel to experiences you shared together. With the idea of sharing, not only your living place, but also your life with a stranger, for me Couchsurfing is the best way for one to travel and become more than just a tourist.

Interests

My friends often describe me as ˝a people person, nature lover" kind of individual. I have a strong passion for books, reading, psychotherapy, and counseling. During my free time, I enjoy hiking, climbing, camping, skiing, and snowboarding. Exploring diverse cuisines and experiencing various cultures through food is also a cherished hobby of mine.

Music, Movies, and Books

As a huge fan of house, techno and electronic dance music, I love to visit festivals all over Europe with my friends and meet new people while enjoying the beats.
As a future psychotherapist, my interest in books is mostly engaged in that direction, from self-help books to philosophical and psychological ones. I truly believe books are some of the best life teachers, so maybe that is why I have a bookshelf with 100+ of those teachers.
As a curious person, my interest in movies goes in every kind of direction you can imagine, from SF to thrillers, drama and romance, but also interesting documentary movies about crime, social issues, nature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took my backpack and swapped my full-time job for volunteering in hostels throughout Europe. It was a time of tight budgets but overflowing with life experiences – something you should definitely consider trying someday.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a counselor and a person who is highly interested in other people's stories and experiences, I would be happy to share mine but also listen to yours. I'm a person who loves preparing food, sharing recipes and enjoying life from the table, so I hope we can cook together. As an enthusiastic traveler, but also, travel planner I would love to share some of the tricks and tips I learnt over the years.
