About Me
I'm a potato scientist!
I love travelling, music, and languages. I'm an avid learner, and am constantly burying my head in textbooks, but sometimes I wish I had a bit more non-fiction in my reading list...
I'm a keyboard player, and I especially love classical music and jazz, as well as all kinds of other piano music.
At the moment I'm learning Chinese, as I just visited there. Plus, my girlfriend is chinese!
Unfortunately I can't host at the moment, but hope to when I move to a more flexible living situation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couchsurfing because I'm continuing a family tradition! My dad was one of the Couchsurfing early adopters, and we had all sorts of travelers coming and going when I was a kid.
Plus, it's a great way to meet new friends!
Interests
My favourite thing to do is hit a ski slope early in the morning and keep going until it closes. Apart from that, I love making new friends and meeting new people.
I've developed a love for good food by traveling and working in kitchens which I guess is unsurprising. Since then I've been cooking different meals and trying different things - if you can make a meal that you feel identifies your culture and the place you live in, tell me about it!

Music, Movies, and Books
At the moment, I'm loving the works of Wong Kar-wai regarding films. Music, it's really a pot luck. One month I'll listen to only classical music, the next it'll be whatever pops up on my Discover Weekly, and sometimes I just binge on a certain genre for weeks. I love all music, as long as it's not too much of the same thing!
I'm big into sci-fi. I'm currently working my way through Cixin Liu's Three Body Problem series, and some of my favourite authors are various sci-fi/fantasy writers - Frank Herbert, Ursula K. Le Guin, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Set off from home at 18 with no plan, and barely any money. Ran out of money after a couple months, but managed to keep my travels going for a year!
Ended up working my first job in a restaurant in Switzerland during the ski season, and visited Spain, France, Switzerland, Portugal, plus a few other places. Fell in love with traveling and meeting new people! Spontaneity is what keeps me going.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you play music, we should have a jam!
Otherwise, if you're into anything nerdy, I'm your guy... let's talk about plant genetics!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Always happy to help out with chores!
I was a chef for 6 years, so also happy to cook some tasty food. I mainly worked in a vegetarian restaurant, but I have cooked plenty different styles of food over the years.
