Overview
About Me
American from California. I'm very friendly, open minded, non-judgemental, adventurous, I love to listen, cause listening means learning, and I love to teach anything little thing I know that someone would like to learn . I love free spirited people and have a difficult time being comfortable with routine...after graduating university I traveled the world for two months, came back to work for a few more, and then quit my job and left to travel again for six months after that and altogether it was probably the best year of my life! During those travels, I popped into a cafe in Krakow, Poland and met Americans studying medicine at Jagiellonian University. I loved the city, loved being abroad, couldn't imagine returning to my old life and two years later I moved to Krakow. Now I'm studying as well. I don't have much time to travel really any more but I still love meeting genuine people from all over.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Over the course of almost a year of being a nomad traveler, I was received with so much hospitality and kindness by people from Iceland all the way toThailand. I've slept on many couches, been fed by many strangers, and been gifted so much warmth and kind reception while I was a traveling nomad. I promised myself that when I could, I would give back. Now I'm a student so I can't really get away too often, but I have an apartment and plenty of space to pay forward all the kindness I've received during my travels and that's why I'm here. My main reason though is a selfish one...what I miss most about traveling is all the different people with so many different lives, backgrounds I would always meet . Always a good story to hear and one or two to tell :D
Interests
I love nature first of all, hiking, camping, and getting lost in the woods or in the city or in thought.I love books, classic novels, and when I have moments of inspiration and serenity I love writing short stories. At one point I tried to be an actor in Los Angeles for about a year, but my agent fired me haha. I love good people and all animals, often as much as I like people. I love good music, good movies, and good challenges. Oh...if you haven't guessed...I love traveling!!!!!!!
Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite Movie: Godfather...Marlon Brando, Al Pacino...its a cliche because it is soooooo good.
Favorite books/authors: Hemingway (another cliche but I don't care...there's a reason why), The Idiot, City of Thieves, basically most Russian novelists, Paul Coelho (except for the Devil and Mrs. Prym...didn't like this one very much).
Favorite music: My music tastes are as all over the map as I am, I love alternative rock...the Bleachers, All American rejects, One Republic, American Authors, Young Rising sons, Lumineers, and I like the classic stuff as well, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Bob Dylan, CCR, ACDC, etc. etc., classic classic music, all those German/Austrian composers, and I love Irish and Scottish folk music...Francoise Hardy (I can sing you one of her songs in French :)).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trekking through the mountains of Iceland all the way to the coast..three days (90 km) of trekking with 35 kg of supplies on my back and sleeping five nights on the ground in the bitter cold...starting the morning sweating in a t shirt and walking through snow on the barren glacier fields of a volcano in the afternoon (and that was just one day).
I also opened a wine bottle with a shoe once...
Teach, Learn, Share
I speak a little French, enough to interact fairly okay with you if you don't speak English otherwise I won't be much good for teaching you the language. Being American I am fluent in English, and as long as I am with you would be happy to tutor you, converse with you if you are trying to learn.
I've done over thirty countries many of which in Eastern Europe so I have a lot of great memories and cool places I can recommend to you from whatever part of the world you happen to be traveling.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm renting a 2 bedroom apartment with a loft space close to the square so any kind, genuine soul/souls are welcome to stay up in the loft as long as I don't have exams coming up right away. I got all the recommendations you need if you've never been to Krakow before or are moving on to a country I've been to. Anything else...just ask.
