About Me

I'm a 22 year old college graduate, that is on a two and a half month trip before I start working in San Francisco. I am a computer engineer (nerd) and like most computer related things. I'm also an avid hiker, and like doing all sorts of physical activities; ie) football, hockey, climbing. I'm pretty laid back, and don't drink very often, but I can if the opportunity should arise. I'm looking for a place to stay and possibly a person that can offer a unique perspective on the city that I'm in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been travelling through Asia (Taiwan, Japan, Korea, China) for the past 2 months and have met an incredible amount of interesting people and seen some very beautiful things. I hope to continue that in Europe. The best experiences I've had have been spent with locals, and it would be great if I could meet hosts that I could talk to and get to understand their perspective about the culture and city that they're a part of.

Interests

I like reading and people watching. I really enjoy releasing energy by hiking, biking, swimming, climbing, or playing sports. I also like to have good conversations with people from different cultures than my own.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I typically like independent / folk music, but I'm open to most types of music.

Books: I find it hard to pick favorites with such a large collection of great books out there, but right now perhaps: Ernest Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls; and Robert M. Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I built a real-life version of the video-game Mario Kart. A couple of friends and I took a couple of RC cars and modded them so that they could play laser tag with each other, pick up items, and have modular speed. It was a lot of fun to build and 'test'. I've done a lot of fun things, but this stands out right now.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you'd be interested I could tell you how a computer works from a very low level. Or I could discuss a fair amount of other tech-related concepts. I'd also be interested in discussing biology, physics, etc.

P.S. - I have no idea if this is what they mean by "Teach, Learn, Share"

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have some fun stories that I've picked up from my travels in Asia. I've heard that I can be nice to hang out with. If my host would like me to cook for them, I can make pretty good sausage and pasta, or a decent breakfast.
