About Me
Hello!!
My name is Mick. I was employed as a mining engineer back home in Australia, when I realised that this was the perfect time to put aside the restrictions of a career, and so I quit and jumped on the road to explore the world. At a glance, this was based on a desire to travel, explore, learn, work and teach wherever I choose while I am able. This lifestyle may go on for the 6 months or 6 years, as long as I am happy and enjoying life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I prefer the genuine hospitality that a local can provide, rather than organised accommodation of a hotel/hostel. I believe I have a lot to offer, and conversely far more to learn. What better way to achieve this than with a local who knows more than I?
Interests
Definitely down for a beer, or a coffee and a chin wag. I have a passion for the outdoors, particularly camping, skiing, cycling and remote touring.
I really just love the simple things in life like meeting new people and swapping tales/sharing experiences. Chewing the ear off a bloke I have just met over some bizarre topic with a few beers and laughs is my idea of a great evening.

Music, Movies, and Books
Basically any music with genuine talent appeals to me. Discovering new music but celebrating the old. Play the trumpet and piano. Love Triple J radio.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Crossing the Simpson desert in Australia with a good mate in a Subaru will always standout as a great trip
What I Can Share with Hosts
A genuine appreciation for your hospitality! I have gained a bit of travel and work experience around the world now and can share this. Background in mining engineering and music, so plenty to chat about there. I am sociable and fun and extremely tolerant. Happy to keep the laughs and the shit talk going - you won't be disappointed!
