Overview
About Me
I'm a 27-year-old English teacher living in the Bronx. I spend most of my time reading and writing, generally wherever I can find peace and quiet with few distractions (this amounts to relatively few places), but I'd like to spend much more time traveling, which is why I'm here, writing this bio. Overall, I'm laid back and open to new experiences and adventures; I am as interested in historical sights and art and museums as I am in hiking and biking and white water rafting. I feel that, having lived most of my life in New York, and never having really left the US, I have a very limited worldview, which segues pretty well into the Why I'm On Couchsurfing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm here mostly because I want to see the world and experience different cultures on a limited budget. Having graduated with a masters degree a few years ago, I'm burdened with a significant amount of student debt, and (as lame as it sounds) I really haven't traveled outside of the United States. As I mentioned up there in the About Me, I know that I have a very limited understanding of different places and cultures, and I see traveling, and couchsurfing in particular, as a means of meeting different people with vastly different worldviews.
Interests
Meeting people with ideas and lifestyles that are vastly different than my own; art, including all things literature; immersing myself in and experiencing different cultures; food; doing things that some would term "adventurous" - the sort of things I will fondly tell my grandchildren about in something like 40 years; history; beautiful sights, castles in particular; and all sorts of physical activities.

Music, Movies, and Books
I will stick to books here: I am a huge fan of English fantasy writers, particularly Neil Gaiman, Philip Pullman, CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Jonathan Stroud, JK Rowling... The list goes on and on. I suppose you should know that I am obsessed with storytelling - so, if this is something that you're interested in as well, we can probably talk for hours on end.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I volunteered at an orphanage in the Dominican Republic.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm happy to help hosts in any way that I can - cooking/cleaning/working - you name it. Being an English teacher, I also have experience teaching English language learners, so I might be of help in that way as well.
