About Me

Hi everyone! I'm Michael, a first year engineering student at the University of Oxford (Keble college) and am hosting until halfway through June! When I'm not at university, I live in a small village in Wiltshire (Kind of in between London and Bristol) which, to put its size into perspective, now has its first cafe! I love meeting new people from different cultures and think this website is a fantastic way to do so.

About hosting:

Come and stay somewhere that looks like it's from Harry Potter!

I won't be able to host until I go back to university in October :)

As I am a student, there will be times in the day when I am not around - labs, lectures or socialising. If I am out my room, you will also have to be because I keep it locked and it's inaccessible without a pass . However, Keble is in central Oxford so you won't need public transport within the city. In addition, the museums are very close and free to go in. I can also show you where the best bits of Oxford are which the public don't know exists! :)

If you want a place to stay overnight in Oxford in the city centre, and don't mind being out in the city during the day, then come visit!
My travelling/about me:

As previously mentioned, I come from a small village in Wiltshire (lots of countryside and old people) but have somehow ended up studying at Oxford. When I'm not working, I love the outdoors - climbing, hiking etc and am in the University Air Squadron (the Royal Air Force for students at university). I love meeting people and really enjoy sharing cultures!

In the second half of August, a friend and I (see my profile for some photos of him) will be interrailling through Western Europe. To start, we will be near Rome, helping out on a scout camp with some German scouts, before heading back home via Florence, Vienna, Bratislava, Prague, Berlin and Paris. We hope that we can meet with the couch surfing community and share cultures (and a drink or two) together!

The only reason we aren't staying for longer is that I may be going climbing for a week with the University Air Squadron at the start of September!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that visiting a country is meaningless without experiencing the culture and the best way to do that is through locals!

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't know if it's my favourite but I've been listening to the Lord of The Rings audio book to pass time quicker when I'm walking by myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I haven't died yet which is better than most people!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help with English through conversation or maths that isn't too advanced. Perhaps my brother would be better at this bit; he's at university learning to be a primary school teacher.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A sense of humour (maybe), (average) piano, (probably) good conversation.

And cups of tea and sharing of conversation and culture!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Japan, United States
