About Me

Hi!

My name is Michael Langella. I'm from the bay area in California in the United States. I've grown up camping and backpacking all around California and the west coast and am looking to expand my adventures to other horizons.

I spent the last 8 years of my life living in Santa Cruz, California where I was able to do and accomplish a lot of things. I got my BA from UCSC in Cultural Anthropology where I spent time studying psychological anthropology and some theories of consciousness. During this time I was also able to play drums in a band, work my way up at a coffee roasting company, and further develop my love for the outdoors and adventure.

Currently I'm working as an English Teacher at a high school and loving it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking to meet interesting people while traveling and get some new stories. I typically like to avoid the usual tourist traps and would like to see more of the local side of things.

Interests

Backpacking and trekking have always been my biggest interests. There's a special kind of truth and beauty you can access with a pack on your back in the midst of high mountains and low valleys.

I'm also an avid reader and never travel without a book. I also play drums and had a band while I was in Santa Cruz. Playing music with people is always a ton of fun and I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things with the band once I'm back from traveling. Writing music with people is a beautiful way of communication.
