About Me

I'm a lifelong cook. I began learning how to cook at 3 years old and have developed it as both a skill and an art ever since. I am interested in everything to do with food: ingredients, technique, health, culture, agriculture, and sharing meals with others.

I am also an avid plant and ecology enthusiast. I was a nursery manager of a small commercial nursery for a year, and i love to hike and observe nature.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet new people and learn about new places.

Interests

I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking and learning new things of all types. Right now i am learning Spanish. I meditate daily and sometimes do yoga.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like lots of different music, especially flamenco and classical guitar, older jazz, pop music from anywhere in the world, and electronic music.

I love to read. Some of my favorite books have been Demian by Herman Hesse, 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston.

Some of my favorite movies are Fight Club, Amelie, Dazed and Confused, The Big Lebowski, Pan's Labyrinth,
and Office Space.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent two years in an internship on a homestead in the San Juan Islands doing sustainable agriculture and permaculture. I lived outside 9 months of each year, lived with 11 other interns, and helped to manage nearly 20 acres of annual and perennial vegetables and fruits, along with some chickens and ducks.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach cooking.

I want to learn about other places and the way people live.

I can share stories, ideas, and dreams.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, laughter, a love of food, and a curiosity about our amazing world.
