About Me

I'm a Scottish man in his late twenties who constantly wears a kilt, plays bagpipes and has seen both Trainspotting and Braveheart on multiple occasions.

Between working remotely for my last job and generally loving moving around I've been moving around a lot for the past six years - having lived in Spain, Portugal, Switzerland and Brazil as well as having travelled in many others. Besides my native twisted and barely intelligible version of English, I'm also comfortable enough communicating in French, Portuguese and Spanish (with Spanish being the weaker of the three).

In my spare time I enjoy playing Wonderwall in hostel common areas, keeping a travel diary that I will never turn into a Wordpress blog and taking pictures of myself on a swing that I'll later post with the caption #Wanderlust.

Political I'm as left and liberal as it gets, but I favour and relish in open discussion with people from almost any viewpoint, as opposed to the currently twentysomething leftist approach of shouting down a berating anyone who doesn't hold the same view point - that's bigoted and gets us absolutely nowhere.

Apologies for drifting between the literal and ironic here, but that's whit am aw aboot, ken?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couch surfing as I think it's an absolutely wonderful way to get to know the city from a more local perspective, not to mention all of the other clichéd reasons everyone writes on here - it also keeps spending fairly light of course.

Putting mild sarcasm and speaking more candidly, I'm a sound enough fellow who enjoys meeting new people and getting shown around. The media'll have you believe we're living on the eve of destruction, but here on ground level, I think it's genuinely never been easier to find decent folk than right now.

Interests

I've read almost all of the Mister Men Books and I've been an avid glockenspiel player since the age of seven. When I can make the time, I like to concentrate on writing my lord of the Rings - Star Wars crossover fan fiction novel that is as yet untitled - suggestions welcome!
