Overview
About Me
I'm an avid waterman, served 6 years in the US Navy, and lived in Hawaii for 3 years. In the last 6 years I have traveled through Central America including Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Nicaragua with my friend Becky. Sometimes she's here. I enjoy surfing, spearfishing, diving (Master Scuba cert.) etc. I like to cook and also a musician. I'm laid back and easy going, I'm very social and enjoy getting the most out of every moment in life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have enjoyed AirBnB both as superhost and guest and figured this would be a natural fit on both fronts as well. I enjoy meeting genuine cool people. Everyone you meet knows something that you don't. I also travel quite a bit for work within Virginia and hope to utilize CS so I don't spend so much time staring at the windshield.
Interests
Anything that involves water, and or a board is always near the top of my list. I post some GoPro clips on Youtube of some of my interests. You can see it here:

Music, Movies, and Books
I've been a musician since I was 10 and play several instruments, but mostly drums and percussion. I have a wide variety of musical tastes from Classical to Reggae and everything in between. Bonus if you know TooL. Recent books include writings from Carl Jung, Alan Watts and The Presence Process by Michael Brown. No recent movies but I do like documentaries.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Pipeline, Free-dive Spearfishing, ...I'm an adrenaline junkie and a calculated risk taker. Limiting my favorite experience to one would be tough, but crossing the Continental Divide in Monteverde on horseback sticks out as a recent one. Hiking the Puamanamana on Oahu...long list.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a really great pet. A large Blue and Gold Macaw. Her name is Kiwi and she's quite the celebrity. She frequently travels with me depending on the destination, and loves to talk. She has a large vocabulary and can do some cool tricks.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm happy to cook a meal for you in exchange for some hospitality. I mesh well with all types of cultural backgrounds, and can tell a great story or two, and after all it will be new material to you. I'm also equally as eager to hear about the experiences of new friends and acquaintances along my own travels. Some of the most interesting people and best relationships I have are as a result of travel!
