Looking to embark on my first UK trip and don't have much time. I would like to stay with a local and see the hidden gems of London and the UK rather then all the boring touristy stuff.

Sports - although it seems I'm going to the UK when there is a black hole of sports. No wimbledon, EPL or cricket! Sigh.
