About Me

Hello!

I am a 24 year old recent graduate, I've just moved back to my family home in County Down so am unlikely to host at the.minute, but would be interested in meeting travellers in the belfast or country down area to show them around if they like :) ignore the next bit as I'm not hosting right now!

Please read my whole profile if you're thinking of making a request as I would like to know if you think I'm someone you'd actually enjoy staying with :)

I've spent my life working on my family farm before moving to the city whilst working toward my masters degree in Engineering. I've had the privilege of exploring Europe as a couchsurfer, being hosted by 3 people and shown around by others. I have recently hosted my first surfer and would love the opportunity to share my country with others.

I love live music, hiking, exploring new cultures and tasting some local food and drink.

I tend to enjoy both quiet and loud crowds of people, although I would definitely describe myself as talkative so perhaps that's something you should expect. I enjoy deep conversations, and don't tend to deem any topics taboo although I am trying to develop one of those "filter" things people keep talking about.

Philosophy:

Everyone is equal in my eyes. An open mind is a learned mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To show people the Irish countryside - to help them discover the cities and to make lasting friends with interesting people who I would never meet otherwise :)

To see another side of the countries I'm visiting, meet some great friends and to share some Irish/Northern Irish craic with my hosts and guests (you'll know what that is if you've been here before).

I want to try different things and get off the tourist trail - and offer the same in return.

Interests

Live Music - generally rock, indi, metal, traditional and reggae gigs are my favourites. I play drums and am learning some guitar.
Sports (I'll give anything a go but I love watching boxing and rugby),
Arts (I'm not an expert in anything but I really enjoy surrealism),
Poetry (an enthusiastic amateur),
History.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is broad. Very broad.

I am an all out music lover-I have an extremely broad taste and am thirsty to add to it so if you enjoy discussing music then I will be delighted to try out suggested listening and offer my own.

Any movie by Baz Luhrmann or David Fincher. Into the Wild (which has a fantastic soundtrack)

Literature wise- I enjoy fantasy novels, Shakespearean plays and cunning word play in the form of poetry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A couple of skydives.

I visited 16 cities in 10 countries in 28 days - this was my first couchsurfing experience and I did it solo. Absolutely loved it!

Teach, Learn, Share

"Only the shallow know themselves" - Oscar Wilde

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook (a bit).

I'll try anything so if you have unusual interests-the weirder the better!

Unnecessarily deep conversation if you wish, or just a casual chat.

I love discussing, sharing and learning about history so that should probably be in there somewhere.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Northern Ireland, Poland, Romania, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, United States, Wales
