About Me

I am a graphic designer who lives and works in New York City. I signed up for Couchsurfing when I received a grant to study Dutch design in Amsterdam. In the past I backpacked across Europe and studied abroad in Doha, Qatar.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd love to meet travelers from around the world and hear their stories. I think that staying with other surfers is a great way to make friends and learn about culture. To me, CS is NOT just a way to find a "free place to stay." I also travel whenever I can. That has required a lot of help from so many people and I'm on CS to pay their kindness forward whenever I can.

Interests

Travel (duh!) And also volunteering, reading, design, visual art, theatre, ballet, photography, hiking, and writing. I'm always up for a good concert or play and enjoy eating out with friends regularly.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Sufjan Stevens, My Brightest Diamond, Tennis, St. Vincent, and Broken Bells.

Movies: I enjoy the classics and anything with a good plot. Films that come to mind are The Shining, O Brother Where Art Thou?, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Birds, Black Swan, King of Comedy, Battleship Potempkin, and Citizen Kane.

Books: Again, you can't beat the classics. I find myself reading Faulkner, Toni Morrison, and C.S. Lewis repeatedly. That said, I'll give any book at least 100 pages of my time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014 I studied abroad in Doha, Qatar. While there I had the opportunity to spend my fall break in Amman, Jordan providing aid to ISIS refugees. I also had time to see Petra and the Dead Sea afterwards!
