I am a friendly, outgoing person who likes to meet new people and travel to new places. I am energetic and enthusiastic about life. I am definitely an optimist, I always try find the good in people and situations. I am compassionate and generous with my time and my resources. I love the outdoors and nature. I am fair and honest and challenge those who try to take advantage of others. I am very passionate about our world and our environment.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a gift and we have a responsibility to live it fully. As spiritual beings on a physical journey we must discover our purpose, be grateful for this gift of life and contribute to the well being of the planet and all of
the creatures who abide here.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just moved from Annapolis, Md. to Medford, Oregon in December and my home is currently open to couch surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted several "surfers" so far and have had wonderful experiences both times.

Interesses

I recently retired after 30 years as a school counselor. I love kids and teenagers and enjoy spending time with them to see how they see feel about their world and their lives. I love to be active and doing things. I love to bicycle every day. And I have a mountain bike and a road bike. I enjoy photography, camping, hiking and biking of course. I love to read and watch documentaries on just about every subject. I enjoy the company of interesting people and love to engage in authentic conversation about life, politics, the environment, and the future of our world.
Most Americans live in a cultural bubble and know very little about their world and people from other countries, so I want to travel and meet all kinds of people and learn about their countries and cultures as well as their views about their lives and their world.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

Just finished "The Great Turning". A must read for the survival of the planet. Several essential documentaries I just watched on Netflix were: "Zeitgeist", "Burzynski","3 Magic Words" and "Pink Ribbons,Inc."
I am currently reading "Gaia's Garden" to learn more about establishing a permaculture garden in my backyard. I am also reading "The Untethered Soul" by Michael A. Singer

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

I recently returned from spending two months doing volunteer work in the Northern Andes of Ecuador. I met an amazing farmer named Don Sebastian who owned a large farm on top of a mountain. When we drove up the road to his property he greeted us with a warm smile. We told him we were just visiting the area and he stopped his work and spent the next 4 hours giving us the most wonderful tour of his mountain. The most amazing moment I remember was when he drove us up a rough mountain road to the top of his property at 13,000 feet. As we stood there we could see for many miles over the Andes mountain tops. It was truly an awesome moment.

My second experience was on a small cruise ship in Glacier Bay, Alaska. It was a photographer's cruise and the local professional photographer invited us to join him at sunrise on the bow of the ship. Well sunrise in this area of Alaska happens at 3am. I managed to get out of my bunk and on to the bow at that unnatural hour. Well it was totally worth it. As we stood their in the faint morning light, with water as calm as glass, we noticed several dorsal fins slowly slicing through the light green glacial water about 50 yards off the port bow. It was a family of Orca whales on their morning search for food. It was truly another awesome moment that I will never forget.

I would like to share my knowledge of photography and jewelry design. I would love to learn more about organic gardening, permaculture, solar energy for my home, converting my VW diesel Jetta to using veggie oil fuel and cold and hot metal joinery techniques.
