About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy my new life in Hamburg, Germany

ABOUT ME

I'm a teacher living in Hamburg and from New Zealand. I live with my partner Tanja (thank you Couchsurfing 😊).

I love sports (especially cricket), different cultures and experiences, traveling, random good times, broadening my perspectives/horizons

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people, to have an adventure.

Interests

When I travel my interests don't really matter as much as I just love going with the flow with whatever is happening or takes my fancy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music taste is very widespread. Love a good comedy film. I'm a sucker for sappy movies as well. I'm a history teacher so I read a lot of history, politics and current events

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Local gambling game played in San Francisco at a pub that had a $6 Beer and tequila shot combo. Don't remember much of the baseball game that I went to afterwards, but i came out even and am much more glad that sort of thing happened instead of being stuck around other tourists like golden gate and Alcatraz

Also...leading two high school history trips. One to Vietnam in 2012 and a Black Civil Rights tour of the USA in 2014.

Also... traveling Latin America for 10 out of 14 months before covid came along and interrupted us with a 5 month lockdown in Ecuador - so yay it was 15 months. Bonus.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm more in the mould of let's have a chat and see where we end up. At the least I can share some kiwi culture, teach a bit of the history, then watch you laugh as you comprehend 250 years being our complete history as a nation-state (the indigenous history of 1000 years I can tell only a little about).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can give you a locals perspective that I learnt from my girlfriend, plus some of my own interpretations and learnings, particularly showing you around St. Pauli including but not focusing on the famous Reeperbahn. This includes where you get the best Fischbrötchen, introduce you to the best beer and the Northern German culture.
You might leave as an FC St Pauli fan if it's up to me (amazing club on social values). I like a good yarn, pleasant company, and general good times. I can cook good simple meals as well or you could show off your food culture as well.
Obviously anything and everything related to NZ I can share as well.

Countries I’ve Visited
