About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To spend time with people I wouldn't ordinarily encounter

ABOUT ME

I am a native Californian (from san francisco) who lived in NYC for many years. I enjoy hefty snowfalls, the summer solstice, exploring the culinary wonders of new york, running on large mountains and hills, meeting new people, and playing a variety of games including backgammon, charades, chess, and many others. Although I sometimes fall victim to routines, I make an effort to be spontaneous and optimistic. Recently, I have been producing documentaries and am pursuing film professionally.

PHILOSOPHY

Keep moving. When I'm stuck, I go running in hills.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The foundation that couchsurfing is built upon embodies what I believe the world can use more of- trust, friendship, and open-mindedness. I am always eager to learn more about new people, cultures, and want to do my part to improve perceptions of America abroad (we need it more than ever).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted several guests and found all of them wonderfully stimulating

Interests

Trail running, film, cooking, writing, chess, backgammon.

Music, Movies, and Books

The last few books I read are: "What is the What" by Dave Eggers, "The Three Body Problem" by Liu Cixin, and much of the Harry Potter series. The author who's work I most admire (but struggle to wrap my mind around sometimes) is Vladimir Nabokov. Not sure how I would define my taste in music, as I enjoy aspects of almost any genre. Artists I listen to a lot... Portugal the Man, The Strokes, Animal Collective, Kendrick Lamar, The Shins, Mos Def. My favorite TV show is Chef's Table.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recently got back from an trip to India, where I was teaching Math and English to impoverished children. I'm still struggling to verbalize how powerful and life-changing this experience was.
