About Me

I'm Michael, 30 years of age, living in Berlin (well, Potsdam to be more precise)

By training I am an Urban Sociologist and currently working for a foundation which promotes quality in architecture and urban design and in Germany.

Tbilisi always struck me as one of the most fascinating places in Europe and was on top of the list of cities I want to visit for ages, so I took the chance to come here, even with little preparation ahead...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hey there, lovely people of Tbilisi!

I'll be visiting your city for one week from Friday the 30ths onwards...

This will be my real holiday in ages and I'm really exited about the chance to get to know your city and Georgian culture. That said, my trip is kind of spontaneous, I just booked my flight a few days ahead and am now lost in preparations from money to accommodation and updated my old and sadly still unused couchsurfing profile. I'll add some more to it when I find the time...

Most important thing for me though is to get to know people (like you)!
I'd be delighted if someone would be so kind to spend some time with me to show me the city

Music, Movies, and Books

Books

Mostly contemporary American fiction. DeLillo, Franzen, Safran Foer, McCarthy, Ford and the likes... although I rarely find myself reading any fiction these days and feel like a less wholesome human being accordingly.

I'm really into American magazine/longform journalism to make up for it and enjoy reading a few pieces a week on whatever piques my interest.

Movies

My taste is getting way more sentimental while my need of being deeply unsettled by movies seems a bit on the wane. Greatly appreciate David Lynch but haven't watched any of his movies for about a decade now.

I like drama, but also enjoy more fun stuff with sad people in it like Sideways, Igby goes down, in Bruges, burn after reading, 500 days of summer, oh boy or whatever Josef Hader does.

Music

Love it. Off the top of my head... Cass McCombs, Sharon van Etten, Spoon, Joy Division, Cate le Bon, Damian Jurado, Thao, Future Islands, the National, St. Vincent, Radiohead, Kurt Vile, Beach House, Mount Kimbie, a tribe called quest, Ideal, Bob Dylan. Minimal or punk stuff should I wanna move feet...
