I have had several couch surfing experiences in England, Belguim, Switzerland, France and Germany, although these were not arranged via couchsurfing.com
I have used homelink.com to find accomadations while traveling and made new friends while traveling, I have yet to have a bad experience staying with perfect friends or perfect strangers.
