About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Stay alternative, critical, interested and socially aware

ABOUT ME

I'm a university lecturer and my research looks at disability rights and social welfare in Eastern Europe, especially Russia. I enjoy good food and eating out, cafes, bars, fiction, Latin American music, foreign films and travel. I've lived in Germany, Russia and Hungary and can rave about them for hours.

I generally get on well with people who have an international outlook, are open-minded and up for random discussions and activities.

Cities - Budapest, Lisbon, Odessa, Munich

Food - Indian, Italian, German, Greek

PHILOSOPHY

Don't worry about the past, look forward to the future and enjoy the present. Time solves most problems.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In Lincoln there is a great CS network that weeks weekly for beer and I've hosted several brilliant travellers to the region. All experiences have been great and I've become good friends with most people, travelling to them in return. Recently used Couchsurfing to find somewhere to stay while attending conferences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In Russia, I have explored the city with National Geographic journalists, hosted a group of European volunteers for a long weekend and hung out with visitors to Tatarstan.

Interests

Food/cooking, modern art and dance, mountain biking, travel, hockey (in my earlier years), fiction, languages, people-watching. Have just finished my PhD in sociology, which looks at the citizenship experiences of physically disabled people in Russia
