About Me

CURRENT MISSION

A short visit to Dublin. I've been to Ireland once before and loved everything. Highlight was seeing a retired All Black play his first game of rugby for Connacht in Galway. Very keen for a Guinness on arrival (my shout!).

ABOUT ME

I grew up in New Zealand, did my high school and university in Brisbane, Australia and recently moved to Canada. I have travelled throughout Europe and the UK in 2014 for six months and then shorter trips to India, Malaysia, Laos, USA, Fiji most recently a return to the UK. I have hosted and surfed and loved it. I'm hoping I can still get to know more about the world by meeting travellers in my new home city of Vancouver soon

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started couchsurfing in Europe and stayed three times with different people. It was a great way to get an experience you never would any other way. The places I couchsurfed in are places I definitely want to go back and visit and were some of the best highlights of my trip. I'm not travelling anymore but I still want to be a part of the couchsurfing community!

Interests

Big sports fan - I can enjoy everything from football to darts but I love Rugby in particular

I love cycling through a new city, and mountain bike where possible.

I love the outdoors and camping.

I love learning new things although sometimes the love doesn't last very long and I lose motivation. Hence why I'm not fluent in Spanish, can't surf or skateboard and my golf game is seriously below par.

Music, Movies, and Books

While travelling I tried to watch movies from or based on the places we were visiting, most of which were good choices. A condensed list:
-Troy (Turkey)
-Demons and Angels (The Vatican)
-Intouchables (France) *favourite!*
-The Pianist (Poland)
-Braveheart (an obvious must watch)
-Brave (Scotland again, loved it!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Driving (unlicensed :/ ) through Germany in a BMW convertible

Sleeping under the stars on boat in the Mediterranean

Drinking away an entire supply of alcohol with an English farmer in Cornwall

Walking on a frozen lake in the Highlands on Boxing day 2014

Spending a week teaching in Odisha, India and playing with the local kids

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to teach you about my two home countries if you're interested or just share travel stories. I can show you a number of cool places in British Columbia and help you plan any adventures. I live one hour from the Vancouver centre by train but I'm in all the often.

I'm always keen learn more about other cultures, religions or ways of thinking. The more I travel, the more I realise how much I have to learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope to be good company and an easy guest. I'm happy to help in any way I can (it's the least I can do) and hopefully by the end of it you'll be seriously considering visiting me in Australia!
