Hi, I'm Michaela :) I come from the Czech Republic but I lived in London for 6 years before deciding to quit my job and chase my dreams of travelling the world - I'm sure you've heard a story like this before!

In February 2018 I went on a big backpacking adventure around Asia that lasted 9 months and now in 2020 I'm on the road again and heading to New Zealand on a working holiday visa. Nothing makes me happier than exploring new countries, meeting people from different cultures, learning about the world and experiencing things I would have never done if I had stayed at home.

Curiously, I haven't tried Couchsurfing yet but I think it's about time!

If you love films, we will get along just fine - I studied filmmaking and am a big movie junkie. I also love being behind the camera and making little films and videos. In addition, I blog about my travels and share tips from my backpacking trip at BackpackingPeople.com.

I'm a bit of an introvert but hey, I've been travelling solo for months and managed to make plenty of friends, so it can't be that bad, right?! :) I promise I'm friendly and smiley and don't take myself too seriously :)

Fun facts about me:
I might be the only Czech person in the world who doesn't like beer.
I went to the cinema 57 times one year.
I am super tidy - Monica from friends would probably be my best friend.
I carry a water bottle and a metal straw everywhere to reduce my plastic waste.
I've seen way too many ice hockey games in my life because my brother is a professional player.
There's nothing in the world I hate more than smoking.
I love using Instagram - if you need some new cool shots of yourself, I can definitely help with that ;)
