About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm trying to figure that out actually...

ABOUT ME

Curious sums it up pretty well. I'm most passionate about learning and sharing, in the millions of ways that manifests itself. I believe in playfulness, humility, gratitude, experimentation, and not taking yourself so seriously when said experiments don't turn out the way you anticipated(and they usually don't!). I'm very easy going(sometimes to a fault)and always see the good in people, no matter where they are in life. I'm rarely punctual(working on that!) and have a tendency towards crippling perfectionism that rarely works in my favor(working on that too). I dunno, it's hard to type about oneself.. Talking is better over a glass of wine eh?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Nothing through this website yet, but plenty of impromptu "couchsurfing" experiences, from living with a family from Jalisco while getting my money straight in LA to picking up a hitchhiker in Big Sur and staying at the WWOOF farm he was working on and so many more great experiences with beautiful folks. People have been good to me everywhere, I try to reciprocate.

Interests

Cooking, Reading, Craft Beer, Filipino Martial arts/Kali/Arnis/Eskrima, Language Study, Cycling, Primitive Living, Wilderness Survival, Nature in general, Playing Banjo, Guitar, Harmonica, Smelling Flowers, Eating Good Food, Talking, Silence, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional Healing Modalities in general, Wandering Aimlessly, Wild edible/medicinal plants, Juggling, Yoga, Running, Whiskey, The Arts, Natural History, Oral Tradition, I dunno, Everything is pretty damn interesting, no?

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Akira Kurosawa,The Coen Brothers, Woody Allen, Wes Anderson, Park Chan Wook, Gareth Evans, Star Wars, I don't really watch films all that often though..

Music: Overall, I'm all about folk/traditional music from any culture, the kinda stuff meant to be sung by anyone and everyone. I feel like there's a lot of power in those old songs, and it's important to keep em alive. Besides that, I love most music and we can talk about music in person since I hate typing.

Books: Robinson Jeffers, Haruki Murakami, Tom Robbins, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Bruce Lee, Bill Watterson, Craig Thompson, a bunch of non fiction stuff about this and that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The night sky on a deserted beach somewhere in the middle of Alentejo after walking all day and night, still haven'tseen stars like that since

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to share with anyone interested basic primers in making sushi, self defense, guitar, banjo, wild edible plants, I've picked up a fair amount of random skills through working and living, some more proficiently than others, but I'm always happy to share the above and plenty more with whom ever is interested. I'd want to learn more about dancing(never learned a "real" dance, I just kinda jump out and go crazy), drawing(I'm quite a miserable artist), and I always need help with other languages!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Colombia, England, France, Ireland, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Philippines, Portugal, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In

Portugal, United States
