About Me

Moved all around the southeast US as a kid. Graduated from North Carolina State University with an engineering degree and settled in Raleigh as an engineer. Used to DJ and be the program director at WKNC, NCSU's college radio station. I also play music occasionally.

I am pretty politically active and care deeply about the equality of all people. I really enjoy learning, having new experiences, being outside, exploring, playing music, listening to music, going to shows, gardening, reading, cooking, eating, biking, and most importantly good conversations.

Friendly and welcoming of all types of people as long as you are as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

Absolutely love books, movies, and music and am all looking for new recommendations.

Books: The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings are books that I will always come back and read every time I finish another book. Some other authors I like other than Tolkien: Paulo Coelho, Don DeLillo, Cormac McCarthy, Jon Krakauer, Dave Eggers, Jack Kerouac. Some other books I've read recently that I've enjoyed: Our Band Could Be Your Life, Lies My History Teacher Told Me.

Movies: Obviously the Lord of the Rings (and The Hobbit to a lesser extent), The Fall, The Boat that Rocked, Big Fish, Into the Wild, The Life Aquatic, The Darjeeling Limited, and The Truman Show. Honestly anything involving Leslie Nielsen, Mel Brooks, or Monty Python. Those movies make me laugh way harder than they should. I am also a huge fan of nature documentaries and have slowly collected all Planet Earth, Blue Planet, and Human Planet at various thrift stores.

Music: Music is absolutely my life. I listen to all kinds of music and it really depends on the day to determine what I'll be listening to. I love 60's psych rock, 80's synth-pop, 80's hardcore punk, 80s & 90s twee, 80s & 90s hip-hop, 90s guitar rock, and all other present stuff that these have inspired. Here's a list of some rad local artists from my local scene you should check out: Naked Gods, Whatever Brains, Schooner, Silent Lunch, Hiss Golden Messenger, Kooley High, Beverly Tender, Dunums, Naked Naps, Polvo, Veelee.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking with people (I'm vegetarian so hopefully that's cool) and am more than willing to help clean and pull my own weight. I can share good conversations, good times, and hopefully some new music (I try to travel with mixed CDs of local music from my scene).
