Overview
About Me
I don't want to be the kind of person who just gets "a job" and settles down. I want to work doing something that will allow me to travel and see the world; not just for touring purposes, but to try and learn to help people everywhere. My mission is to use my entrepreneurship skills and mindset to build a company that will be beneficial to society on a multi-national level.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling by bouncing from hotel-to-hotel is dull for me. I've done enough travel for work that has taken me to exceedingly fancy hotels and the luxury of doing that has worn off over the years. What's increasingly frustrating about hotels is that they almost always place you somewhere that's segmented off from wherever it is I'm visiting. The "culture" you end up seeing isn't a true representation and is rather a, sometimes artificial, selection culled up just for the tourist.
My most exciting travel experiences have been staying with local friends, at hostels that encourage mingling, and with host families in far-off villages. The advantage of all these is that you get to experience whatever city you're visiting more freely and more like a local would.
Interests
Growing up it was difficult to target exactly what interested me both. Some teachers valued my eclectic nature and others said I was talented but needed to find one thing to focus on. For several years, I worked as a journalist for a small (but still print) newspaper and learned that the reason I liked the field of media so much was that it allowed me to be eclectic and for it to be okay. While not exactly a journalist now, working in media allows me to fancy all my interests.
To answer your question, though, my interests include cinematography & photography, video production & editing, computers & technology (C++ coding, web development, taking things apart & putting them back together, etc), fitness, travel, investments, entrepreneurship, and many others. This isn't some random list of interests, either. You can easily see these things in everything that I do. I am the cinematographer for several short films and other events each year. I edit wedding videos, concerts, public speeches, and weightlifting motivation videos. I am constantly the one people call for technology help and work on my coding in my spare time. I work out incessantly and make my nutrition intake a science experiment. I could go on...

Music, Movies, and Books
Point blank I have to say Linkin Park is my all time favorite band. I still remember the day I first saw their music video for "In The End" on MTV. They've really sparked my interest in music as a whole. While my musical knowledge is limited, my tastes are extremely expansive. I've been to dozens of punk/hardcore concerts in college while also having danced in downtown Nashville to some great country music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The one thing that I think others feel is amazing is how I took a road trip with 2 friends across the entire United States and back. We left from California, drove to New York with half a dozen stops in-between, and then came back. The experience is way more surreal than I can put in this little box, but it goes down as one of the most amazing experiences I've had.
The one thing that to ME was an amazingly surreal experience but may not seem like such a big deal to others was having sang karaoke in a backyard restaurant in Hoi An, Vietnam. The fact that I knew nobody there, was the only one who spoke English, and could not articulate how I actually got there is amazing to me and I hope to have many more experiences like that.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English to anyone looking to learn. I am trying myself to learn Spanish and I am completely empathetic to the difficulties of learning a new language. As I've said above, I am an eclectic and can literally sit and listen to someone who has experiences and lessons to share for hours and just soak it all in. After that, I would love to share some of the videos I've produced and experiences that I've had.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will gladly share anything that I can with hosts gracious enough to offer me hospitality. I can share anything from stories of my past travels and experiences to helping with house chores and errands or even caring for a pet. While I'm not in the immediate position to offer other CouchSurfers a couch in the US, I will gladly accept guests in the future as soon as I'm able to.
