About Me
CURRENT MISSION
After recently obtaining a masters degree in International Affairs from Penn State University, my mission is to find work in International Development so that I might make a positive impact in the developing world.
ABOUT ME
I'm pretty laid back with a positive outlook on life and exploration- I have squeezed a lot of diverse experience into my 20's, working at a major international technology firm after university before leaving it all behind for a one-way ticket to Africa with the dream of a different life.
I have since made my living as a photojournalist, taking at least a month per year to participate in a humanitarian endeavor of some kind. I am currently getting a masters degree in Human Rights from Penn State University and hope to work with UNICEF, USAID, UN Peacekeeping, or a related field when I graduate in 2013.
I have lived abroad and traveled extensively and have plenty of stories! I seem to be able to relate to most anybody and I am always keen to try a new culture, language or food and believe in living my life by the ethos: "Give more than you Take."
PHILOSOPHY
"Take Your Dreams Seriously"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I will host anyone when I have a settled residence and I enjoy meeting and surfing when exploring and on the move... I've found some of the most interesting people in the world participate in CS, so it is a great way to meet people from all walks of life!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed in the United States and Argentina and hosted in Ardmore/Philadelphia. I cycled across the United States in 2011 and had a wonderful experience with couchsurfers!
Interests
I love writing about my travel experiences and hope to publish one day. I am currently studying Spanish and LOVE learning languages - I know some Portuguese, several phrases in Swahili and plan to learn French in the near future.
I am Scuba certified and working on my pilots license, just so I can put the whole "dive and fly" theory into practice - beware copilot! But my greatest passion is cycling. In Summer 2011 I cycled 4,600 miles across The United States, completing a dream of cycling from ocean to ocean entirely on green energy (solo-unsupported).

Music, Movies, and Books
I love watching movies with good friends or cozying up under a pile of blankets on a cold, sick day with Netflix! Music-wise.. I play the guitar and a little harmonica so I really like singer-songwriter stuff-Dylan, Neil Young and all the classics, but modern stuff too like Amos Lee, Josh Ritter, Joshua Radin, Gregory Allen Isakoff, etc.. Literature: I write humorous travel adventures and enjoy reading non-fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just went to Iguazu Falls here in Argentina and it was simply amaaaazing!
Cycled 4,600 miles across the United States
Participated in a humanitarian mosquito-net project in Brazil and Trinidad
Climbed numerous mountains in various countries including Mt Orizaba in Mexico, Chimborazo in Ecuador, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Whitney and other 14ers in the USA, etc.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to learn- I find all people have unique talents and contributions to the world and I enjoy speaking with as diverse an audience as possible. I love linguists and listening/learning different languages and phrases....
