About Me

I' m an australian guy from a large country town. My heart belongs to nature and quiet but i look for my share of adventure and excitement too. Now, im living and teaching english in chengdu, china. 10 million people - a full-on epicentre of modern development. you can guess which part of my personality is being satisfied and which is being slowly killed…

Enjoying working out the puzzle of the language, city and people, while i figure out what direction i want to go next in my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because couchsurfing is the antidote to modern, globalised tourism.

Its about awesome people, and surprising experiences and living in the moment. Ive only surfed two couches, but it felt like i had been attached to one of those machines where they jumpstart your heart when you are nearly dead.

Interests

Music, Books, Waves, International development, Providence, Latin America, Dogs, Hiking, (Round ball) Football, Cricket, Rock and Roll, Surfing, Accordions, Buddhists, Yogis, foreign languages, foreign accents, dark quiet cinemas, Rain, Just-Cut Grass , spontaneity and melancholy

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: so much!! Im the guy who is always carrying round the bulky, yet kind of crappy headphones. And seeing as much live music as possible.

Some examples: wilco, chance the rapper, nina simone, bonobo, carly rae jepson, Bowie, Jens Lekman, phoenix, lykuc, john lee hooker - you get the idea.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Whatever happened yesterday.
Whatever is happening today.
Whatever happens tomorrow.

( in other words im really bad at remembering stuff. And taking photos. Oh, wait, last european summer I walked a very long camino de santiago - 3 months from geneva to santiago. So recent i havent forgotten it yet ;-)

Teach, Learn, Share

Im gonna open my couch a little bit later, when i've settled in a bit more. And then ill have a half assed understanding off the city and not a quarter assed understanding. You might learn something, you might eat the best food of your life, or you might get mugged in a dark alley. Just kidding, we'll probably end up in the alley, but Chinese are usually too nice to mug you
