About Me

I'm a musician from Tucson but originally from the Bay Area. I came to Tucson for grad school and initially thought that I'd want to get out as soon as I was done with my program but there is an austere beauty to the desert that really grew on me. That, plus the low cost of living and the incredible people I've met, has led me to stay here for almost 10 years.

I play music of all types and I score indie films when I get a chance. I've recently taken an interest in Music Therapy and I'm starting the process of getting board certified in Arizona.

I'm incredibly chill and try to not take up too much space.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Put simply, I'm couchsurfing to meet people. Almost every time I've traveled, I've managed to meet up or stay with friends or friends of friends. There's nothing like getting the "local take" on things.

I also really like getting to know people; their jobs, backgrounds, world view, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Goodness. There's way to much to list here but in terms of the artists that I've listened to most I'd say Charles Mingus, Beethoven (all the symphonies specifically), Mr. Bungle, Primus, Ministry, Radiohead, Stravinsky. I've got more of a breadth of musical interests rather than depth.

TV Shows: Farscape all the way.

Movies: I really like most films by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Terry Gilliam, the Marvel Cine-verse, and the Star Wars universe. Not overly original, I know, but there it is.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm not sure if you'd necessarily call this "amazing" but one really interesting thing I've done is that I traveled to Russia while it was still communist. I was part of a theater group that did performed West Side Story with a half American, half Russian cast.

We did homestays with Russian families and it was amazing. Everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, don't mind doing chores at all, I enjoy conversations on pretty much any topic, and I'm respectful.
