Overview
About Me
I was born in Taiwan, then moved to New Zealand when I was six. After University (History, Japanese), I worked in Japan as an English teacher for a few years; after that, I went to Germany to do a Masters (Transcultural Studies). When I finished that, I came to the Netherlands and recently finished a research project on North Korea. I know, it's pretty convoluted.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet interesting people!
Interests
There are quite a few things I can talk endlessly about: history, culture, writing, video games, languages, cooking... I've been told I'm a natural professor, so if you don't stop me, I'm liable to go on forever.

Music, Movies, and Books
Some of my favourite authors: David Mitchell, Neil Gaiman, Vladimir Nabokov, Donna Tartt, China Mieville. I also do a bit of writing myself.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I began 2016 on an island of 600 people in Okinawa, where I spent my time herding goats and snorkelling with sea turtles, and I ended it as a Masters student in the other side of the world in Heidelberg, Germany.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm curious about people, and always happy to learn about them. I'm quite happy to teach any of the languages I know, or history, or culture, or just share great stories and good times!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories, food, contact in places you might want to visit, wine, lame jokes.
