Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting people from everywhere, of course. I've hosted several people from all over the world and gotten to learn their traditions and cultures while unapologetically making them experience my own. I've used couchsurfing when traveling to meet up with people in several different countries and cities in order to get that personal insider's view on the local scene. I actually have yet to use couchsurfing to find lodging overnight - it's always been to ask people to meet with me during the day and show me around.

Interests

Music is likely the largest, both listening to albums and attending as many concerts as I can cram into my schedule. I also play a few instruments (guitar and piano) and write in my spare time. Oh! And video games. I play those occasionally as well.

Music: Tom Waits, Charles Mingus, MF Doom, World/Inferno, Parliament-Funkadelic, Aus-Rotten

Movies: Too many to list...There Will be Blood, The Third Man, Chinatown, Ran (Kurosawa), Black Dynamite.

Books: Crime and Punishment is my favorite, along with most of what Dostoevsky writes. Kurt Vonnegut, Issac Asimov, Ernest Hemmingway, William Burroughs, Kafka.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hugged Manatees in Cozumel. They are not as soft and huggable as you would think, unfortunately. They are also quite strong, and are likely to refuse your hug and propel you through the water with a single stroke of their flipper. One day manatee...one day I shall hug you again!
