About Me

Hi! I ike puzzles, rivers, records, and theories. I’ve been experimenting with many different kinds of work for the past few years—I’m an engineer but I’m often disillusioned with technology, which is a challenge, but it’s brought me to some interesting places.

I recently moved back to Boston to get back in contact with friends, the city, and the music scene. I just went through the southwest on a road trip and it was beautiful.

Some dreams: start a spice-based ice cream shop, make and sell various handmade things (clothes, pottery, furniture...), and play in a band (again).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it's sweet to host people just for the sake of meeting people and not needing to profit from it.

Interests

I love playing and listening to music, designing simple physical things, learning about the world and sustainability, and expanding my mind!

BOOKS/AUTHORS David Foster Wallace, Ted Chiang, Noam Chomsky, Pale Fire, 1984, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Malcom X, James Baldwin, books about the brain

MOVIES either a weird head-trip or the total opposite—grounded and life-affirming (but not cheesy)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked on designing and making a cassava processing machine in Ghana--I had conversations along the way with the women who would be using it and worked on building it with local manufacturers. Really great experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to cook some African food, so I can teach/share some of that, and I'm curious to learn to cook more stuff. I play piano/keyboard and some guitar, maybe we can jam :) I can show/tell you how to ferment certain foods as well.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Virgin Islands, British

Countries I’ve Lived In

Kenya, United States
