About Me

Hi everyone! I’m Michael! From the US (originally California but now New York). I love striking up conversations with random people, saying yes to spontaneous adventures, and exploring new/exciting/unknown places. Always looking for the next adventure! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At the beginning of April 2018, I quit my job, gave up my apartment, and booked a one-way ticket to Europe in hopes of exploring the world. As much as I love exploring on my own and with other travelers, nothing quite compares to seeing a place and experiencing a culture through the eyes of a local. I'm looking forward to meeting incredible people and sharing ideas, stories, and adventures!

Interests

Hiking/trekking, crosswords, photography, reading, meeting new people, spending quality time with friends, and listening to music/going to concerts.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Always changing, but there are some constants! Of Monsters and Men, Blind Pilot, Vance Joy, George Ezra, Kygo to name a few

Movies: The Intouchables, National Treasure (absolutely not a joke), Shawshank Redemption, The Dark Knight

Books: I’ve recently been binging on books about how we process information, make decisions, and human (ir)rationality. Would love to talk about some of what I’ve found most fascinating!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh man, there are so many incredible things I’ve been fortunate enough to experience in my travels around the world. One that jumps to mind: while traveling around Europe, I spontaneously changed my plans and decided to hitchhike over 7 hours to get to Paris for Bastille Day + the World Cup final. It ended up being one of the most amazing weekends of my life!
